The Dutch Benelux Simulation Society is very proud to announce that our honorary member and co-founder Prof. Eugene Kerckhoffs has received the Order of Orange-Nassau from the King of the Netherlands, for his trajectory in the promotion of simulation among other things. This such great honor sets the direction for any simulationist and gives DBSS the motivation to continue in the promotion of science.

By his decision of 12th May 2017, his Majesty The King of the Netherlands  has appointed prof. Eugene Kerckhoffs as Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau. The Order of Orange-Nassau is a Dutch civil, i.e. non-military, knighthood. The royal decoration was presented on 25th May 2017 in the famous Parliament Building of Budapest by the Dutch ambassador in Hungary, during a gala diner at the occasion of the 31th European Conference on Modelling and Simulation (ECMS 2017). Prof. Kerckhoffs received the royal decoration because of his more than 40 years lasting activities for international scientific societies and conferences in the area of Modelling and Computer Simulation, this in addition to other volontary activities. He played a significant role in the process on the way to the establishment of Eurosim in 1989.
