Understanding and simulating crowd dynamics in the next VESS

/ July 11, 2022

Join our next VESS and meet our speakers – Prof. Ashish Verma, Dr. Gayathri Harihara Subramanian, and Ms. Karthika P S from the Indian Institute of Science, (India).  On July 15, they will present Understanding and simulating the dynamics of a spiritually motivated crowd.

About this VESS

Since time immemorial, numerous religious gatherings and periodic events happen across the world. Many of these events have been marred by crowd crushes and accidents. Human behaviour is a complex phenomenon, which can lead to complex behaviours. Consequently, this makes the safety of people in crowded places a major concern for the government and management authorities. Generally, crowd management happens in two stages: the event preparation and the event execution phase. Therefore, capturing and studying pedestrian behaviours through empirical studies is essential to predicting crowd risk at a given location. These studies can be used to design the facility for the expected crowd. In this regard, the following studies will be discussed in this VESS.
